Gaspar Tail Bait – Soft-Tail Glider for Pike
Gaspar Tail Bait is a sinking pike lure that combines the stable side-to-side action of a glider with the additional movement of a soft tail. Rod taps produce powerful, controlled glides, while the tail adds movement and vibration during the retrieve, direction changes and the drop.
Stable glides and versatile retrieves
Gaspar responds well to short taps, longer pulls and reel-only retrieves. It can be worked rhythmically like a traditional glider or with irregular movements, changes of speed and pauses.
The soft tail remains active when the lure changes direction and sinks through the water. This creates a more visible presentation and adds movement even when Gaspar is retrieved slowly.
Slower rod movements produce wide, controlled glides. Faster taps create a more aggressive action that imitates an injured or escaping prey fish.
Gaspar for Live sonar fishing
Gaspar’s stable and easy-to-control action makes it particularly effective when fishing with Live sonar. The angler can observe the pike’s reaction and immediately adjust the retrieve, pause the lure or change its depth.
Its sinking design allows the lure to reach suspended fish and remain close to a pike visible on the sonar screen. Gaspar can be worked slowly in front of a cautious fish or accelerated when the pike begins to follow.
Additional screw-in weights for Gaspar 12 cm
The 12 cm version has a threaded belly slot for optional screw-in weights. Three available weight sizes allow you to adjust the sink rate and bring the lure down to a suspended pike faster.
The additional weight system is especially useful when fishing deeper water or targeting fish located below the boat. The screw-in weights are available separately.
Three Gaspar Tail Bait sizes
Gaspar Tail Bait is available in three sinking versions:
Gaspar TB 7 cm – 25 g, sinking, BKK size 6 treble hooks
Gaspar TB 10 cm – 60 g, sinking, BKK size 2 treble hooks
Gaspar TB 12 cm – 100 g, sinking, BKK 2/0 treble hooks and a threaded belly slot for additional weights
The different sizes allow you to match the lure to the prey size, fishing depth and power of your tackle. The range includes natural prey-fish patterns, holographic finishes, fluorescent colours and high-contrast designs for different water and light conditions.
The Gaspar Tail Bait is a sinking pike lure that combines the stable action of a glider with the movement of a soft tail. During the retrieve it makes strong and regular side-to-side glides.
The Gaspar makes stable and repeatable glides from side to side. The range and dynamics of its action can be changed with the retrieve speed, short rod movements and pauses.
The soft tail follows the body and creates additional movement during the retrieve, when slowing down and while the lure is sinking. It increases the Gaspar’s visibility and complements its side-to-side action.
The Gaspar is available in three sinking versions: TB 7 cm and 25 g with BKK size 6 treble hooks, TB 10 cm and 60 g with BKK size 2 treble hooks, and TB 12 cm and 100 g with BKK size 2/0 treble hooks.
The 7 cm Gaspar suits lighter tackle and a smaller lure profile. The 10 cm version is the most versatile. The 12 cm Gaspar is intended for powerful tackle, larger pike and deeper water. Always check the maximum casting weight of your rod before choosing.
The Gaspar can be worked with a steady retrieve, short rod movements or a combination of both. Changes in speed, accelerations and pauses allow its action to be matched to the activity of the pike.
Yes. The stable and predictable action of the Gaspar makes it easier to watch the lure on a live sonar screen and guide it close to a selected pike suspended in open water.
The threaded slot in the belly of the 12 cm Gaspar allows an additional weight to be screwed on. This increases the sinking speed and gets the lure down more quickly to the depth of the pike being observed.
An additional weight primarily increases the sinking speed and makes it easier to work the lure in deeper water. The weight should be matched to the depth, the fish’s activity and the maximum casting weight of the rod.
No. The threaded slot for fitting an additional weight is found on the 12 cm Gaspar Tail Bait.
In clear water, natural colours matching the prey fish in the venue are a good starting point. In murky water, low light or poor visibility, try contrasting and fluorescent patterns.
Yes. When fishing for pike, use a leader that cannot be cut by the fish’s teeth. Its breaking strength should be matched to the selected Gaspar, any additional weight and the other components of the tackle.
